Tooth decay or cavities occur when bacteria manages to cut its way through the enamel (outer most layer of your tooth). Bacteria is constantly present in our mouth; therefore, tooth decay can be a problem for children, teens and adults. Bacteria uses sugars from our food to form acids that attach tooth enamel.
